Today I'd like to go over the link between mental and physical health.

The two are very much connected and play equally important roles in our lives. If you were to break a bone, the next step would be to seek medical attention for a plan of care. The goal would be to get you healed so you can return to normal activity as quickly as possible.

You wouldn't ignore the pain and discomfort of your broken bone! That would dramatically decrease your quality of life.

Just as we would not ignore that physical pain, we should not ignore emotional pain, so the same principle should be applied to working on your mental health!

Neglecting your mental health negatively impacts your physical health. This article I found on The Mayo Clinic website says that emotional stress may contribute to high blood pressure.

Exercise and meditation are not only basic forms of self-care, they are recommended by medical professionals to help reduce high blood pressure as well as other medical conditions. This is just a tiny example of how the two are connected.

Now take a look at this...

MentalHealthFirstAid.org says: "In a national survey, Americans cited benefits of self-care as: enhanced self-confidence (64%), increased productivity (67%), happiness (71%). From a physical health perspective, self-care also reduces heart disease, stroke and cancer."

A 71% increase in happiness?! That is absolutely amazing...and attainable! I can personally attest to that.

Self-care is truly an enlightening journey of learning more about yourself. It sometimes takes a little trial and error, but it is so worth it. We will work together to cultivate a happier, more joyful & thriving YOU!

Joyfully,

Marina
