February 22, 2023 in Mental Health, Self Care

Hello joy seeker, I'm so glad you're here!

Taking care of mental health is not something a lot of us learned while growing up. In fact, I was taught quite the opposite - to take care of others before I take care of me. While this made the lives of those I was taking care of much better, this proved to be detrimental to my emotional and mental health especially in my adult life.

After a series of strained and failed relationships, I was left feeling emotionally exhausted and defeated. I started experiencing depression and anxiety throughout almost everyday. My emotional wellbeing was completely out of whack and I was starting to physically feel miserable.

I felt like I was barely functioning. I hit my rock bottom.

I knew this was not a sustainable way of life and something had to change for me to be happy. This realization started my journey to self-care ultimately leading me to where I am now - joyful and thriving! You wouldn't know that if we met for the first time today. Most people assume that I have always been the happy and free soul that they see now. What they didn't see was the years of trial and error. I dusted myself off and tried again more times than can count, but I grew to love that process.

Something I have learned on this journey is that it's never done. I like knowing that while I am currently the best version of myself, I can continue to evolve into an even better ME.

Learning how to take care of yourself and your mental health is no small feat but it is undeniably worth it. Of course, it requires some learning and patience with yourself but the results are life changing. My belief about it is; what else do we have except time? The time will pass anyway, so why not spend some of it figuring out how to be happier?

That is why I decided to start the Joyful and Thriving website and blog with idea of helping others who are struggling. My goal is to inform and inspire as many people as possible so we can all take better care of ourselves; mind and body.

I will share tools, resources, tips, and strategies that I have learned over the years, as well as my personal (sometimes embarrassing) stories. This will all be here on my blog, as well as in my email newsletter, so please bookmark this page and sign up for my emails!

Please stay tuned, the best is yet to come!

Joyfully,

Marina
